On January 15th, 2006, Google showed zero web pages that had the phrase "V7ndotcom Elursrebmem" in them. Within a few weeks, there were millions online. The first mainstream media mention of the V-E SEO contest was on February 4th, 2006 when Todd Neff from the Boulder Daily Camera wrote Googling in the name of celiac charity (free reg req) with photo by Cliff Grassmick. He did a nice job, but would have been nicer on my deck - check out the patio designs and pictures from my 40th birthday. They also did a V7ndotcom Elursrebmem MP3 Podcast. The second mainstream media mention is from Lee Gomes at the Wall Street Journal who writes "Contest Players Vie to Top a Google Search" and one of the v7ndotcom elursrebmem white hats was featured in Florida Daily News. Twenty days before the end of the contest, the Washington Post writes "How to Juice Up a Site's Rank." JimW (who has been a leader) gets nice coverage in a Swedish publication.
